The Student-centered Professional Practice Council (SPPC)

The Student-centered Professional Practice Council (SPPC) will be established by late spring or early fall 2025, in collaboration with founding Strategic Corporate Partners (SCPs), during the Start-up Phase of each pilot project. The SPPC will manage all student co-curricular personal and professional development programs. It will form permanent Student Action Teams (SATs) for ongoing issues and temporary SATs to resolve immediate concerns. Lead student representatives will undertake projects with lead SCP professionals, and lead alumni of local professional chapters of ACM, ASME, BMES, and IEEE.

Initial SPPC lead students will include designated representatives from each student chapter of ACM, ASME, BMES, and IEEE, plus selected second- and third-year students determined by each lead representative. This sets the future structure for SAT leadership teams. The SPPC will have a lead contact for communication with PPEC, FPPC, SCP, alumni chapters, and local chapters of the national professional societies. This approach fosters a collaborative, non-hierarchical apolitical team-based flexible governance structure throughout the TUEE Collaboratory, with FPPC and PPEC following the same model.

The Diversity Solutions Student Action Team (Diversity Solutions SAT) will be the first permanent SAT established during the Start-up Phase and will have a voting seat on the SPPC. Lead representatives on the Diversity Solutions SAT would be designated by AISES, NSBE, SHPE, and SWE student chapters as noted above for the SPPC.
